This sanctuary is one of peace and solitude for the commuter, whose body gets accelerated by and enervated from both the public transportation itself and the act of traveling from one place to another.
The four volumes act as thresholds that traverse from one level to another and signal the transition in space for the commuter.
This sanctuary space is for commuters and urban dwellers who routinely travel from work to home and home to work without noticing their surroundings. The space created here is one that encourages getting lost, intentional or unintentional, and getting absorbed to truly appreciate the surroundings of Center City Philadelphia.
The separated volumes create episodic moments for the commuter transferring this plaza space.

This section model shows one of the volumes. It is linked to the bottom level of the Municipal Services Building, through which one can enter a dark space that brightens up to natural sunlight when climbing the stairs.
